Lighthouse Emergency Services Accomplishments
In collaboration with Lighthouse Community Development, Lighthouse Emergency Services (LES) established a team that prevented families from losing their homes to foreclosure.
LES gave 527 households a clean start with their utility bills through a first time grant from the Michigan Public Services Commission.
Chronically mentally ill and homeless clients have received needed services because of the County Mental Health, Shelter Plus Program partnership. Community Network Services, Housing Plus, Visiting Nurses Association and others have set the bar for establishing solid services that impact lives.
People are hungry 365 days a year. LES served 24,489 individuals with multiple-day groceries and provided 4,270 individuals from Pontiac and Clarkston communities with food to prepare a Thanksgiving meal.
Our volunteers provided meals, gift cards, warm clothing, home essentials, gas cards and toys to 4,057 individuals who were adopted through the Holiday Program. They graciously delivered not only groceries, but thousands of hand-wrapped smiles too.
LES was able to help 39 families who were burned out of their homes to re-establish their lives in the community.
Eighteen (18) senior luncheons were conducted through partnerships with the Oakland County Bar Association, Prince of Peace, First Presbyterian, and the Birmingham Bloomfield Newcomers Club. LES Senior Services program accomplished 100% in-home assessments of seniors in the program.
Through partnership with St. Thomas More and the Society of St. Vincent DePaul, we were able to include fresh meat in the food distributed to families.
Lead by just three tireless volunteers, Career Dress provides business clothing to women re-entering the work force. In a partnership grant with the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester, Career Dress was able to buy new shoes for deserving women. They also gave hundreds of purses donated by Crittenton Hospital and FBS Financial Services, preparing the women for career opportunities and ensuring each woman has a little purse of her own.
SAFE developed a solid working relationship with Lancaster Village apartments allowing eight families to obtain affordable safe housing. A new intensive empowerment workshop, with 90% participation, has enabled families to build personal skills that better stabilize their families.
FIT “Families Involved Together” has expanded their Passages parenting program and served over 100 high risk families through a six-week intensive parenting series.
