Rick David was named the new CEO of Lighthouse of Oakland County on July 1, 2015. His background and expertise in non-profit work and knowledge of the Pontiac area specifically made him an ideal fit as our new CEO.
During Rick’s 35 years at United Way, Rick served as the VP of Organization Affairs of United Way for Southeastern Michigan and also served as the interim CEO of the state United Way organization and assisted in state organization in shaping a new direction to better serve the 64 local organizations. Rick was also the CEO and President of United Way of Oakland County and Vice President of Resource Development for United Way of Metropolitan Tarrant County, Texas.
Rick was given a special assignment with United Way International-Democracy Network Hungary, Budapest to ensure the implementation of a $3.45 million USAID grant at which time he provided technical assistance to the 22 local Hungarian United Way organizations in the areas of fundraising, strategic planning, governance development and administration.
Most recently Rick opened a bed and breakfast in a Victorian home in the Franklin Boulevard Historic District in Pontiac, along with the Gallery on the Boulevard that focuses on regional art, education classes and community activities.
Rick has proven excellent leadership skills within a team environment. His belief in Pontiac’s future is demonstrated through his community involvement.
Rick is a resident of Pontiac and lives at and co-owns the Murphy House Bed and Breakfast with his wife, Pat.
