Wilma Abney

Interim Executive Director

Wilma Abney is currently serving as Interim Executive Director of Lighthouse Emergency Services.  She has been an LES Board Member for the past several years and currently serves as Vice Chair of the LES Board.  She is also a member of the LES Program Committee and serves on the LES Strategic Planning Committee.

Wilma retired from Chrysler, LLC in 2008 after a career in the human resources capacity.  As an HR executive, she held a variety of positions including director of staffing, executive compensation, executive development and human resources strategy. 

An opportunity to serve our community is what brought Wilma to Lighthouse as a board member.  She holds a BA in Communications and a Masters in Labor & Industrial Relations from Michigan State University.  She is married with two children; a son attending Florida A&M University, and a son attending U of D Jesuit High School & Academy.

Her community involvement extends beyond Lighthouse.  Wilma is currently a member of the U of D Jesuit High School & Academy Board of Directors.  She is currently the Vice Chair of the board Human Resources Committee.  She is active at St. Paul Zion Church in Detroit and has spent time volunteering in the Detroit Public Schools and as a personal tutor.  Wilma has lived in the SE Michigan community since 1978.  She brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise to Lighthouse.
