Volunteering at Lighthouse

Volunteers are a big part of the Lighthouse family and play very key roles in the every day operation of our facility. They interact with clients by assessing their needs when they first walk through our doors by helping them with struggles likes paying utilility bills, feeding their families and foreclosure prevention. On any given day our facility has a number of volunteers performing a variety of jobs in every area within our walls. Lighthouse is extremely grateful to have such committed people working to fulfill our mission. Without our volunteers, Lighthouse could not operate as we do today.

Volunteer Appreciation Award Winners

Every year Lighthouse selects our volunteers of the year from each department and recognizes their hard work and dedication at our Annual Volunteer Celebration luncheon. This year's luncheon was held at Ultimate Soccer Arena to honor the award winners and to pay tribute to all our wonderful volunteers. Meet our volunteers of the year!

Lighthouse Volunteer Maud Plumer Receives Honor

Lighthouse volunteer Maud Plumer was recognized as the 2013 Esteemed Women of Michigan by the Gary Burnstein Community Health Clinic. The VIP reception honored Maud in September at the Royal Park Hotel. The annual event honors women who have made extraordinary contributions through personal, volunteer and professional avenues to improve our community and inspire others in our state. Congratulations are in order on this very deserving distinguished honor. Maud and her husband Hank have been long time volunteers and instrumental in the coordination and management of our Thanksgiving and Holiday Adopt-a-Family programs. They also give their time to help with our seniors program by cooking and serving at their monthly luncheons and assisting with the fresh fruits and vegetables program. Lighthouse is honored to have Maud and Hank a part of the Lighthouse family.
