Why Lighthouse

For the last 45 years, Lighthouse has been a Beacon of Hope to our neighbors who need us the most. Families that come through our doors are worried, sometimes embarrassed, and often desperate. Families turn to us seeking support for the most basic of needs such as food or shelter. Many of these are seeking help for the first time.

Our Programs

Lighthouse of Oakland County finds itself on the front-line in response to the economic crisis facing Southeast Michigan. Our agency provides both short-term emergency assistance and a wide range of support and services that are designed to help families become economically self-sufficient.

Donate

The work we do would not be possible without the support from our donors and community partners like you.

Your donation today will help our neighbors in need. Because of you, we are able to feed hungry families, keep home-bound seniors warm during the winter months, and house homeless mothers with children in the safety of their own home.

Our Mission

Lighthouse Oakland's Mission

Lighthouse of Oakland County serves residents of southeastern Michigan who are facing economic hardship by providing the support and resources they need to move from crisis towards self-sufficiency.

It all began in 1972 with a group of volunteers who provided food and clothing from the back door of a local church.  Today, Lighthouse is a full-service organization helping low-income families overcome barriers and access benefits and support while gaining the skills and knowledge needed to lift themselves up and out of poverty.
