Frequently Asked Questions

1) How can I get help with an overdue rent payment or a utility shut-off notice?

Families with an actual eviction notice or the actual utility shut-off notice should call Lighthouse Emergency Services at 248/920/6100 to schedule an appointment. You will be told at this time what documents you should bring to the appointment. It is very important that you bring all requested documents to assure that you meet all program guidelines.

2) How can I get help with emergency food? 

We are open during the following hours to assist you:


  • Monday & Wednesday 9:00 am to Noon & 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
  • Tuesday & Thursday  Noon to 2:30 pm & 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm
  • Friday   9:00 am to Noon & 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm


  • Monday through Friday 10 am to 3 pm

When you arrive, a Lighthouse representative will speak with you to determine the full extent of your problem and how Lighthouse can assist. Typically families receive a three day supply of emergency food, based on the size of their family.

3) How do I sign up for the Thanksgiving Program?
